  • How do I get a Visa Debit card?

    1. You don’t need to apply separately. Once you open an eligible CIBC Caribbean bank account, you’ll be automatically issued a Visa Debit card linked to that account.

  • How do I use my card at a Point of Sale (POS) terminal?

    1. You can use your Visa Debit card in three (3) ways, depending on the merchant's terminal.

       Chip & PIN: For your first transaction, insert your card and enter your PIN at a chip-enabled terminal or ATM. Going forward, you'll be promoted to enter your PIN for most purchases. 

       Contactless: Several merchants locally and abroad have adopted contactless technology which allows you to simply tap your card for low value transactions to process your transactions. Please note your first transaction cannot be a contactless transaction. No PIN or signature is usually required.

       Swipe & Sign: If the terminal isn't chip-enabled, you'll swipe your Visa Debot card and sign the receipt.

       Tip: If prompted to select "debit" or "credit" at the POS, always feels select credit for a seamless transaction. 

       You can link multiple accounts of the same currency to your Visa Debit card. However, your primary account will always be used for purchases and ATM withdrawls at non CIBC Caribbean machines.

  • What should I do if I notice a discrepancy related to a Visa Debit transaction?

    1. If something doesn't look right on your account statement, contact us right away through our Customer Care Centre.

       You can also submit a dispute by:

       • Logging in to Online Banking or Mobile App and submitting a dispute form. If you're not registered for Online Banking, you can regiser here.
       • Sending us a completed dispute form via  issusingchargeback@cibcfcib.com 

       Please note disputes can only be submitted for settled transactions and not for pending transactions.
